Tiny Minds World
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 May 2026
Tiny Minds World ("we", "us", "our") publishes evidence-based parenting articles and a curated shop. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it. Plain English first, lawyer-language never.
The short version
- We do not sell your personal data. Ever.
- We collect your email only if you subscribe to our newsletter.
- We use Amazon affiliate links — we earn a small commission when you buy through them, at no extra cost to you.
- We use minimal cookies and your browser's local storage for features you opt into (bookmarks, reactions).
- You can unsubscribe, request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it at any time.
1. Who we are
Tiny Minds World is an independent parenting publication. If you need to contact us about this policy or your data, email hello@tinymindsworld.com.
2. What we collect
2.1 Information you give us directly
- Newsletter signup. When you subscribe, we store your email address, the source page you signed up from, your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string. The IP and user-agent are kept only as anti-abuse signals (so a bot can't sign you up against your will).
- Contact form / email. If you write to us, we keep your message and email address so we can reply and follow up.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referrer, user-agent) for security and to diagnose problems. Logs are retained for up to 30 days.
- Local storage on your device. When you save a bookmark or react to an article, we store that preference in your browser's
localStorage. This data never leaves your device. You can clear it any time from your browser settings.
2.3 Information we do not collect
- We do not require an account to read or browse.
- We do not collect payment information — purchases happen on Amazon's site, not ours.
- We do not track you across other websites.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We keep cookies minimal. The ones we currently set:
- Session cookie (
tinymindsworld_session) — required for the site to function (e.g. CSRF protection on the newsletter form). Expires when you close your browser. - XSRF token (
XSRF-TOKEN) — security token that proves form submissions came from our site. Required.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. If we ever add analytics, we will use a privacy-respecting provider (e.g. Plausible, Fathom) and update this policy before turning it on.
4. Embedded content from other sites
Articles on Tiny Minds World may include embedded content from third parties — most commonly YouTube videos. When you load a page that contains an embed, the third party may collect data, set cookies, or track your interaction with it.
- YouTube videos are loaded from
youtube-nocookie.com, which delays YouTube's cookie placement until you actually press play. - Once you interact with an embed, the third party's privacy policy governs that interaction. See Google's Privacy Policy for YouTube.
5. How we use your information
We use the limited data we collect to:
- Send you the newsletter you subscribed to (and let you unsubscribe).
- Reply to your messages.
- Keep the site secure (prevent spam, abuse, brute-force attempts).
- Understand which articles are popular in aggregate, so we know what to write more of.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
6. Who we share it with
We share data only with the small set of providers required to operate the site:
- Hosting provider — serves the website and stores the database.
- Email-delivery provider — sends the newsletter on our behalf. Your email is shared only for the purpose of delivering messages you asked for.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes.
7. How long we keep it
- Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribe, we keep your email on a suppression list (so we don't accidentally re-add you) for up to 24 months, then delete it permanently.
- Contact messages — up to 24 months after our last reply, then deleted.
- Server logs — up to 30 days.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. EU/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA), you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you.
- Request a copy of that data.
- Correct it if it's wrong.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Withdraw consent (e.g. unsubscribe from the newsletter) at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@tinymindsworld.com from the address you signed up with. We'll respond within 30 days.
9. Children's privacy
Tiny Minds World writes about children, but the site is intended for parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures — HTTPS encryption in transit, hashed credentials at rest, regular software updates, restricted database access — to protect the data we hold. No internet transmission is 100% secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe.
11. International transfers
Our hosting and email infrastructure are operated in the United States. If you're contacting us from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and stored in the US. We rely on standard contractual clauses with our providers where applicable.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and — where appropriate — notify newsletter subscribers by email before the change takes effect. We won't quietly use your data for new purposes you didn't sign up for.
13. Contact
Questions, requests, or complaints? Email hello@tinymindsworld.com. We read everything.
